Or, I said I wouldn’t do this again. I booked a place to sleep before I left my bed this morning. Now I have a check-in time to make and I’d rather linger as I go. The struggle between certainty and spontaneity is real.
leaving Viana do Castelo. Tonight’s goal is Caminha.
It was such a push to be getting to destination before too late. Ugh. As it got later in the Day, my feet burned more and I tried to find closer acommodations, but non that I could locate. I’ve met a few people that book when they are tired of walking but I don’t know how they are managing to find openings.
Fortunately my hosts tonight were able to hang in until I arrived. An extra hour it took me to get here beyond the time I estimated. Footsore is an understatement. But fortunately, they have a perfect solution. I soaked my feet with magnesium salt in the exquisite little foot bath in the common area.
I believe my home should have one of these.
Yup, right on schedule for the nagging doubts to set in. May I suggest cold foot bath/tap with lavender or rosemary oil for achy feet then legs-up- the-wall for a half hour nap as soon as you check into your lodging? Restorative as heck… 💕
You are spot on. My routine has become to drop my pack, shower and rest. Then check out my surroundings.
The foot treatment at Hotel Minho Belo was a dream come true. I miss it already.
Foot bath sounded dreamy! Sorry to hear about your tumble..those down hills can be tricky. Every word you write a is deja-vu moment and I’m offering my daily walks in support of your pilgrimage journey. Sending you loads of 💕.
Thank you, Sharan ❤️
I am full of joy. It is all so perfect in the gifts the trail are giving me. It is so much greater than I imagined.
